THE Member of Parliament from the city, Mr M.V.V.S. Murthy, inaugurated the Kambalakonda nature park, an eco-tourism project taken up by the Forest Department.
"The projects taken up by the Telugu Desam Government during the past eight years have placed Visakhapatnam on the tourist map of the country and made it a favourite destination for tourists," Mr Murthy said. "Enchanting beaches, forests, hillocks, ancient temples and Buddhist monuments make Visakhapatnam city and district an ideal tourist spot. But it has remained unrecognised all these years and suitable projects are being taken up now," Mr Murthy said. He said tourism would be promoted without upsetting the eco-balance of the area.
Mr S.A. Rehman, Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), said a planetarium would be constructed in the city. Mr M. Sudhakar, a Forest Department official, said the project was taken up in the Kambalakonda reserve forest at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.
