PHDCCI announces annual awards

THE PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has announced its annual awards for the year 2003. The awards are instituted for recognising Indian businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals for their outstanding achievements/contributions in select areas.

The PHDCCI award for Brand Equity has gone to Satnam Overseas Ltd for successfully marketing rice as a branded product, which has been traditionally marketed as an agricultural product.

Titan Industries Ltd has bagged the award for Good Corporate Citizen Award for its efforts for blending business activities with social responsibility, leading to sustainable improvement in the quality of life of the people in their area of operation.

The Outstanding Business Woman Award has gone to Ms Surender Kumar, Managing Director of Travel Mate (India) Pvt Ltd, a travel agency that she started with a small capital of Rs 50,000 in 1991.

In 12 years time, the company has grown into a Rs 20 crore one, a twelve-fold increase in the capital, extending its operations to some European countries.

Ms Rashmi Paliwal has been selected for the award for Outstanding Contribution to social welfare for her initiatives for the welfare and upliftment of people with disabilities by providing them with equal employment opportunities.
