DENTSU Inc, the world's single largest agency brand with global billings of $18 billion, has started its Indian operations from Bangalore. It has been assigned the entire advertising business of Toyota in India and the new agency handles the Toyota Qualis, Corolla and Camry, besides supporting Toyota Kirloskar Motors in all its corporate communications.

The Indian agency, Dentsu Communications Pvt Ltd, is a 74:26 joint venture between Dentsu Inc and Mr Sandeep Goyal, former Group CEO of Zee Telefilms Ltd, who was also president of Rediffusion DY&R some years ago. The new agency already has 25 professionals on board and this number will expand to 36 by the end of this year when the company launches its media operations. It is planning for an all India presence in the next nine to 12 months and the second office in New Delhi is likely to start operations in March.

"Dentsu is one of the world's most integrated agencies... We are hoping to bring the Dentsu way of thinking to India. The Dentsu approach is a very mature and long term view of markets and consumers," Mr Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Dentsu Communications, said.

The key people currently at the agency include Mr Gullu Sen as the National Creative Director, who was earlier Executive Vice-President of Rediffusion DY&R and has to his credit award winning work on Maruti, Airtel, Canon, Whyte & Mackay and Golgate Palmolive. His recent A.R. Rahman commercial for Airtel has received widespread acclaim, while another work for Maruti's service network, shot in Ladakh, features on the Y&R global show-reel. Ms Ruchira Raina heads Dentsu in Bangalore as Vice-President. She has been in advertising and marketing for 15 years with stints in Mudra, Rediffusion and TVS.
