ISPs Info-Tech - ISPs VSNL, Dishnet in `block spammers' list Bharat Kumar
SPEWS.org has included VSNL and DishnetDSL, both ISPs in its spam list. SPEWS.org (stands for Spam prevention early warning system) describes VSNL as "Spammer hosting. Failing to act on reports of abuse. This place is a mess." and Dishnet as "Far too many spam attacks tracing back to DishnetDSL." This means that such agencies, as SPEWS, believe that spammers use servers of such ISPs to send mass emails. Popular email services and other web sites block senders - based on listings found at sites such as SPEWS.org. Says a provider of mass mailing services to clients who want to reach their customers, "Nobody controls these agencies. Unfortunately, at times, some genuine servers get listed as spammers." Attempts to explain and remove these server names from the list are sometimes in vain, as agencies "do not respond to queries, for, they are not bound to." The process of listing and de-listing is a continuous process. "Our problem is the whimsical nature of the administrators of these agencies which should be controlled by a body", he says.
