Stocks recover in special session

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Nov. 15

AFTER a two-day fall, stock markets recovered in Saturday's special trading session. The buying was across-the- board in the absence of most of the institutional investors.

The National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange held a special two-hour trading session on Saturday. The market was kept open as NSE is testing and upgrading its back-up site in Chennai.

In today's trading, BSE Sensex surged 45.93 points to close at 4,911.76 — near the day's high and S&P CNX Nifty gained 12.35 points to 1,562.80.

A host of side counters across sectors such as textiles, shipping, auto ancillaries, cement, hotels, fertilizers and sugar moved higher. In fact, some stocks were even locked at their upper limits.
