Railway line Inspection on Kankanady-Kabakaputtur route

MANGALORE: The Commissioner of Railway Safety will inspect Kankanady-Kabakaputtur route on Mangalore-Hassan railway line on November 26 and 27, the Mangalore MP, Mr Dhananjaya Kumar, has said.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr Dhananjaya Kumar said an official from Railway Safety Commission under the Ministry of Civil Aviation would also inspect the track before trains could be run on it.

The Union Government would make the Mangalore-Hassan sector operational by December 2004.

The Central Government has been directly sanctioning Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to the gram panchayats to take up various development works. The Prime Minister's Gram Swarojagar Yojna has helped in the development of villages, he said, adding many rural people were given employment under the scheme.
