Oncology meet at Kochi

Kochi , Nov. 18

THE 25th National Conference of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (AROICON) will be held here from November 20 to November 23.

The conference is expected to have more than 25 international experts from leading cancer centres such as Royal Marsden Hospital, UK, University of Madison, Wisconsin, and Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia, according to Dr C.S. Madhu, Organising Secretary, AROICON.

"We have the participation of very renowned national faculty from different major centres in our country," he said and added that delegates from SAARC countries are also participating in the conference.

There would be special scientific sessions on lung cancer, cancer of the uterine cervix and head and neck cancer. Also, there will be sessions on modern trends in imaging, precision delivery of radiation to tumours sparing the normal tissues, steriotactic radiotherapy and tomotherapy, he said.

The World Health Organisation, Indian Council of Medical Research, Medical Council of India, Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board among others are supporting the scientific deliberations, Dr Madhu added.
