Our Correspondent

MADURAI: Development work at Pamban and Valinokkam beaches is to be taken up to attract domestic and foreign tourists, according to the District Collector, Mr S. Vijayakumar, Ramanathapuram, near here.

A sum of Rs 39.50 lakh has been allotted. While Rs 19.50 lakh would be spent on the Pamban Coast, Rs 20 lakh would be spent on the Valinokkam Coast. The works are to be taken up without affecting the environment.

Self-help groups would operate the boat services. A watch-tower and a children's park would be additional attractions at Valinokkam, he added.
