Accelrys launches R&D centre

ACCELRYS Software Solutions has launched its India R&D centre with 50 staff on board, which it plans to double in the next few months.

With investments over $2 million, Accelrys expects the centre to cater to the requirements of Accelrys Inc, in itself a subsidiary of Pharmacopeia Inc.

Accelrys plans to source bioinformatics and chemoinformatics from India, according to Mr Mark Emkjer, President, Accelrys Inc.

Modelling and simulations, apart from nanotechnology developments, would happen from the India centre, he added.

"With a corporate investment of 25 per cent of $100 million of revenues into R&D, we expect the India centre to be a major contributor in quality and control and analysis."

According to Mr Harsha Patel, Director, Accelrys Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, the India centre would build platforms for the development of Accelrys products and would also cater to the needs of Indian clients.
