Employment Kerala lifts ban on recruitments Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Nov. 19 A ROUTINE meeting of the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to lift the ban on recruitments in Government services with effect from December 1. Addressing newspersons here after the meeting, the Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, said the concerned Government departments could fill up vacancies through recourse to the State Public Service Commission. It has also been decided to extend the expiry date of the existing rank list with the commission. "Things have looked up, after compelling circumstances forced the Government to imposing the ban on recruitments earlier this year," Mr Antony said. A number of representations from various youth organisations had also been received in this regard, he added. In other decisions, the Cabinet extended in-principle approval for construction of the Rs 120-crore road project linking Mannarakulanji and Pamba leading to the pilgrim centre of Sabarimala. The project will have assistance from the Malaysian Government. It was also decided not to collect toll for using bridges, costing up to Rs 1 crore as against the present limit of Rs 35 lakh. The Cabinet resolved to sanction MBA course to eight self-financing institutions and MCA course to four. The mining lease held by the Indian Rare Earths for Blocks Two and Four at Chavara in Kollam would be extended for another 20 years, the Chief Minister said. A decision on the mining lease of Blocks Six and Eight would be taken after getting the project report.
