`Commonwealth Games can earn Rs 90-cr revenue'

New Delhi , Nov. 19

THE Union Government expects to profit from organising the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi, according to the Union Sports Minister, Mr Vikram Verma.

He told newspersons that the estimated cost for the games will be Rs 399.5 crore while the estimated revenue is Rs 490 crore, with the estimated profit being Rs 90 crore.

He said that while the estimated cost is unlikely to go up because construction activities will be tied up in current prices, the actual revenue is likely to be more than the estimated levels as the growth of the economy during these years will have an impact on revenues seven years from now.
