Aquatic centre inaugurated

MANGALORE: The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, and the Bremen University of Applied Sciences inaugurated the Indo-German Centre for Aquatic Biochemistry and Ecology at the College of Fisheries in Mangalore recently.

Ms S. Broeck, Vice-President of Bremen University of Applied Sciences, who inaugurated the centre, said a global perspective was essential for solving ecological problems.

Dr V. Ittekkot, Director of Centre for Tropical Marine Ecology, Bremen, explained about the various research projects taken up by the centre across the world. He hoped that the establishment of the centre would help in conducting research in marine tropical ecology.

Prof Karunasagar of College of Fisheries, Mangalore, was present on the occasion.
