New Delhi , Nov. 25

NICHOLAS Piramal India Ltd (NPIL) is set to file for regulatory approvals for its cancer drug that could be applicable in lukaemia, breast or prostrate cancer.

NPIL's Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Swati Piramal, told this to newspersons on Monday at the sidelines of the India Economic Summit 2003, organised by the World Economic Forum and CII.

She said that phase I clinical trials were slated for June 2004, though the company was undecided about whether it would do its phase I trials in India or abroad.

"We would prefer to do the trials in India, but the approval time of about nine months is too long."
