Infosys bags ING, Kodak orders

Abhrajit Gangopadhyay

Bangalore , Nov. 27

SOFTWARE bellwether Infosys Technologies Ltd has won two orders from ING and Kodak, company sources said.

The ING order would likely have a business process outsourcing component in-built, which is to be executed by Infosys' subsidiary, Progeon, they added. However, Infosys spokesperson chose not to comment on the recent wins.

According to market sources, both the orders could be in the range of $25 million- $30 million. "Such wins add fuel to the upbeat sentiment at the technology counters," an analyst with a foreign brokerage said. However, it could not been ascertained whether the new orders had come at higher price points over the prevailing average pricing.

It can be recalled that Infosys had stated in its second quarter earnings call that the company was witnessing a steady pricing environment. Infosys had earlier said its billing rates moved up by 1.5 per cent in the second quarter sequentially.

There has been considerable traction in the telecom segment for the leading Indian vendors such as Infosys, Wipro and HCL Technologies, with most of the traditional telecom-box makers and service providers ramping up their engagements.

Infosys' efforts with telecom firms such as SBC Communications and Telstra are on the upswing even as DHL Worldwide and Boeing accounts are swelling. There has been a volume pick-up for the Indian outsourcing vendors as increasingly overseas companies are shipping work offshore in a bid to cut costs.

The Infosys stock gained 4.11 per cent to close at Rs 4,927.80 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday and powered the Sensex to close at 4989.04 up 1.93 per cent.
