Reliance Info Pioneer offer to close on Dec 14

Mumbai , Nov. 27

Reliance Infocomm has announced the closure of its flagship scheme - the Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer - through which it has acquired most of its 5 million subscribers.

The scheme will close on December 14 this year, said a news release from the company.

It may be recalled that the interconnect usage regime is expected to become applicable on December 15, which would likely bring tariff and plan changes from all telecom companies.

A company official said new schemes and tariffs are likely at Reliance too, once the IUC regime comes into play.

The Pioneer Offer, which initially required consumers to submit post-dated cheques for three years, was subsequently modified, with other payment options introduced for better acceptance. A later monsoon plan, which offered handsets with connections at Rs 501, also fetched a good response from the market, besides the Rs 149 and Rs 249 monthly commitment plans.
