TAPPING an interesting business opportunity, a city-based diagnostic services firm has launched `Diagnostics @ur Doorsteps' which seeks to offer some key diagnostic services to the old, paralytic, pregnant women and patients who are immobile.

The 24x7 service, being launched by Dr Samay's Home Care Diagnostic Services, is just a phone call away. "We have been doing this for sometime. But, we have packaged the whole range of services and made it an integrated one," Ms Sharada Suresh, Managing Director of the diagnostic centre, said.

Dr Samay's is a division of ANRIS Healthcare (India) Private Ltd. Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, she said a well-equipped mobile van would be pressed into service to reach out to far-flung areas and to attend to relatively serious cases. The centre would not charge any transport charges.

Besides, the centre has pressed into service 10 trained para-medical staff, equipped with a basic sample collection kit. "They will travel by motorbikes to attend cases," she said and added that the reports would be delivered at the respective addresses.

"We find a good business opportunity in this. Our experience is that some people find it difficult to turn up at the diagnostic centres for medical tests. While some need attendants to move on, some others find it hard negotiating traffic hold-ups," she said.

"Moreover, we are going to keep the results of tests on our Web site for the convenience of patients, their kin in faraway places and doctors. Only authorised people will have access to the information," she maintained.

The centre has tied up with some doctors and nursing homes, which do not have dedicated diagnostic facilities. Once standardised, the company is planning to introduce the service in major cities in the South, particularly in Bangalore and Chennai.
