The Hindu Business Line : Dumping duty on sodium hydrosulphite

THE Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on sodium hydrosulphite imports from Germany and South Korea. The definitive anti-dumping duty, unless reviewed, would last for five years.

Sodium hydrosulphite is a white crystalline powder that finds application as a reducing agent, sulfonating agent, and cation source for textile, pulp and paper, leather, foods and beverages, polymers, chemical processing, water treatment, gas purification and environmental improvement.

Transpek Silox Industry Ltd, Vadodara and Demosha Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Mumbai had filed the petition seeking anti-dumping probe on sodium hydrosulphite imports from Germany and South Korea.

In its final findings, the Designated Authority had concluded that sodium hydrosulphite has been exported to India from Germany and South Korea below its normal value and that the Indian industry has suffered material injury on account of such imports.
