Calcutta HC direction to Govt, union on Hind Copper sell-off

Kolkata , Dec. 4

MR Justice S.K. Mukherji of Calcutta High Court ordered that any step regarding disinvestment of Hindustan Copper Ltd and shifting of its registered office from Kolkata shall abide by the result of the writ petition filed by Jharkhand Copper Mazdoor Union.

The Union challenged the decision of Central Government for disinvestment of Hindustan Copper and decision of shifting its registered office from Kolkata. The Counsel appearing for the Union Government opposed the writ petition. The Court directed the parties to file affidavits stating their respective contention.
