New Delhi , Dec. 6

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, will inaugurate the `Insurance Summit' in Hyderabad on December 8.

In a statement, the Confederation of Indian Industry, which is organising the two-day event, said that the theme of the eighth summit on insurance is `Realising the growth potential'.

"The aim of the event is to identify a roadmap for enhancing the reach and spread of insurance products in the country," the statement said. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Chairman, Mr C.S. Rao, will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural function.

Some of the immediate concerns that need to be addressed in the insurance industry include bringing about pension reforms and the role of life insurance companies in the pensions market and the need to move away from a tariff regime in the insurance sector to a fully market-responsive system, CII has said.

Besides, the need to have insurance education and the spread of awareness on insurance products has also been stressed.
