Facelift proposal for Chettinad

MADURAI: THE Sivaganga district administration has sent a proposal for Rs 3.25 crore to the Government, to give a facelift to Chettinad, near here.

According to Dr J. Radhakrishnan, District Collector, the proposal has been made in recognition of Chettinad, as heritage town, with immense tourist potential. The place has attracted the film industry and the media and shootings at various places in and around Chettinad are going on.

As such, special attention is to be paid to the access to the heritage town. Recreational, protected water and other facilities would be provided to both foreign and domestic tourists, he added.
