Mastek bags UK contract

MASTEK Ltd has bagged a high value ten-year contract from the National Health Service (NHS), UK.

"Initially the deal has been valued at £27 million and is part of the NHS programme contracted by British Telecom. As part of the contract, we will be responsible for developing applications for the project," a company spokesperson told Business Line.

Mastek would develop applications that would allow electronic transmission of prescription, reporting services, data integrity and terminology.

Currently, Mastek has an ongoing JV with Carreker Corporation for providing BPO services such as payment processing and cheque processing.

The company recently extended its partnership with the Capita Group Plc, UK to form a joint venture for providing back office transaction processing and serve as a business process outsourcing delivery unit for both Capita and Mastek.

It had recorded Rs 460 crore in revenues and Rs 35 crore in profits for 2002-03 (July-June).
