Chennai , Dec. 8

CITY Union Bank expects to be able to network 25 of its 125 branches before the end of this year. The bank has bought the core banking software of Tata Consultancy Services, Quartz.

It is the first Indian bank to use the software. The implementation of the networking project is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore. Interconnecting at least some of the branches will enable the bank to start the next year - its centenary year - on a better technology footing.

"We have doubled our business every three years. We expect to continue to do that," Mr S. Balasubramanian, Executive Director, told Business Line.
