Standards & Benchmarks Notices issued to Cadbury's: Govt Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 8 EVEN as chocolate companies Cadbury's and Nestle undertake efforts to shore up their distribution and win back consumer-confidence, following the controversy where worms were allegedly found in Cadbury's chocolates - the issue came up in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The Government said that the manufacturing units of Cadbury India at Thane and Pune have been inspected and show-cause notices issued on suspension of licences. "The Government of Maharashtra has informed that chocolates and raw materials worth Rs 3,18,65,257 have been seized from retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. The manufacturing units of Cadbury India at Thane and Pune have been inspected and show-cause notices issued," the Minister of State for Health, Mr A. Raja, said in a written reply.
