Kerala: Vaccination of cattle

Our Bureau

KOCHI: The district unit of the Animal Husbandry Department has vaccinated nearly 10,000 heads of cattle in the district following reports of outbreak of foot and mouth disease in some parts of the district.

The disease was now under control, said the District Animal Husbandry Officer, Mr K.C. Vijayan. The outbreak of disease was reported at Manjalloor and Avoli panchayats of the Muvattupuzha taluk during the last week of November.

The officials suspect that cattle brought from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for slaughter were the carriers of the disease.
