Container feeder vessel begins operation at New Mangalore port

Our Bureau

Mangalore , Dec. 9

A NEW container feeder vessel operator, "Bengal Tiger Lines", began its operation from New Mangalore Port on December 8.

The 650-TEU-capacity vessel, MV Tiger Cloud, which called at New Mangalore Port, discharged 63 TEUs of import cargo and loaded 23 TEUs of export cargo.

After completion of the operation, the vessel sailed out on December 9.

Mearsk Sea Land, Safmarine, P&O Nedlloyd, CMA CGM Global (India) Pvt Ltd, Hapag Lloyd, OOCL, and Zim Line are sharing the slots in the above vessel.

A press release by the Traffic Manager of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Mr Nownith Kumar, stated here on Tuesday that HML Agencies were steamer agents and stevedores for this operation.

In addition to the existing feeder line vessel calling at New Mangalore Port every Thursday, the new feeder line, which is scheduled to call every Tuesday, would increase the frequency of calls at the port, it said.

These feeder lines would encourage the exporters/importers to carry their container cargo operation at economical ocean freight and quick turn round of containers, the release added.
