Becon `03 to be held in Mumbai from Thursday

THE two-day Bank Economists' Conference 2003 (BECON) will be held in Mumbai from December 11.

The theme of the conference is "Indian Banking -Moving towards Globalisation," said Mr V. Leeladhar, Chairman, Indian Banks Association, here today.

The event is hosted this year by the Union Bank of India. Among the prominent speakers at BECON 2003, will be Dr Y.V. Reddy, Governor, RBI, Ms Shyamala Gopinath, Executive Director, RBI, Ms Usha Thorat, Executive Director, RBI, Mr A.K. Purwar, Chairman, State Bank of India, Ms Ranjana Kumar, Chairperson, Nabard, Mr K.V. Kamath, CEO, ICICI Bank, Mr Abhijeet Bannerji, Massachusettes Institute of Technology, Boston, Mr Bart Hellmans, Managing Director and CEO, ING Vysya Bank, Mr Christopher Low, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr Raj Dosaj, Senior Director, Sun Microsystems Inc, USA, Mr Cherian Verghes Chairman and Managing Director, Corporation Bank, Mr Gunit Chaddha, CEO, Deutsche Bank and Mr Aditya Puri, Managing Director, HDFC Bank.

IBA is to provide organisational support for the event.
