Insurance capital

This is with reference to "AP hopes to be `insurance capital'" (Business Line, December 9).

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's persuasive skills are so good that the Centre forgets the oft-repeated promises of its ministers and leaders to make Mumbai the international financial capital. Ditto when the moment came for locating the headquarters of the insurance regulator; it was offered to Hyderabad. The AP Chief Minister has asked insurance companies to locate their back office operations in Hyderabad.

One wishes he will also call upon at least a few new entrants to the insurance industry to locate their headquarters at Hyderabad for this is a better index to measure the spread of the financial services industry.
