Madurai oil tank owners stir

MADURAI: Oil tank owners of Madurai operating for the Indian Oil Corporation, have planned to go on strike from Saturday in protest against the low rates offered by the oil company.

The Tank Truck Owners' Association, in a press release have said that they had been operating at a rate of 0.90 paise per kilometre. As against the rate quoted for the forthcoming tender, the IOC has now been insisting that they should operate at the rate of 0.60 paise per kilometre. The Association, at its meeting held recently has decided to go on strike, according to its secretary, Mr Chokalinga Prabhu.
