Our Bureau

KOCHI: As many as 72 officer cadets of the 66th Integrated Cadets Course passed out from the First Training Squadron of Indian naval ships Tir and Krishna. The cadets joined the squadron in June on completion of training at National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and Naval Academy, Goa.

The cadets afloat training onboard ships of the Training Squadron is of 24 weeks duration. The afloat training included six weeks of sail training onboard Tarangini, which is currently on a global circumnavigation voyage.

VADM Yashwant Prasad, Flag Officer, Commanding in Chief, Headquarters Southern Naval Command, took the salute at the passing out parade. The cadets will now join ships of the western and eastern fleets for further six months' training as midshipmen, prior to being commissioned into the Navy as Sub-Lieutenants.
