Arts & Crafts Crafts mela at Shilparamam Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: Be it `Kosa sarees' from Chhattisgarh, cane products from Assam, black pottery from Bihar or bead jewellery from Madhya Pradesh, handicraft products from the length and breadth of the country will be showcased at the Shilparamam near here beginning December 14 to 31. Nearly 500 artisans from 22 States will display their craftsmanship, besides selling their products at the All-India Crafts Mela, being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government in association with the Union Ministry of Textiles. As many as 110 varieties of handicrafts would be put on display during the fortnight-long mela. The mela would also have cultural shows, which include folk dances of different regions in the country. Artists from Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Maharasthra and Karnataka would present different dance forms, a senior Tourism Department official told newsmen here. Besides, the show would put on display how the modes of transport evolved - from the bullock cart to the ropeway.
