UTI Bank opens `highest' ATM in Sikkim

Mumbai , Dec. 12

UTI Bank today inaugurated its ATM at Thegu, near the Nathula Pass in Sikkim, which at 13,200 feet is the highest ATM in India.

NCR Corporation provided the technology to build this heat-generating ATM, which is capable of handling rough weather and sub-zero temperatures, according to a press release. The ATM, which will cater to Indian Army personnel and tourists, was inaugurated by Maj Gen. Deepak Anand and Mr Ranjan Niyogi, Senior Vic- President, UTI Bank.

According to Mr Niyogi, the ATM is a mark of the Bank's commitment to reach customers wherever they are and the expected growth of trade through the erstwhile Silk Route through Nathu La Pass.
