New Delhi , Dec. 12

THE Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has once again postponed the implementation of the revised Interconnection Usage Charges (IUC). The new regime will come into force from January 1, 2004.

According to an official statement, the Authority received several communications from service providers for clarifications of the regime.

"The Authority has had detailed meetings with the service providers on this matter, and has also clarified a number of issues. The Authority has now received requests from various service providers for postponement of the implementation of the IUC regime notified in the Regulation of 29th October, 2003. These requests seek postponement from one to up to three weeks, which would be required to fully implement the IUC regime within a framework of the Unified Access Licence.
