Liquor purchase: AP may move HC

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 13

THE Andhra Pradesh Government is contemplating moving the High Court challenging the order of the Principal Special Judge for Special Police Establishment and ACB Court which called for inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the purchase of liquor against the caretaker Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, some of his Cabinet colleagues and officials.

The Judge, Mr S. Ananta Sayana Prasad, had directed the Director-General of ACB to look into the allegations.

"The private complaint filed by Mr Naguluri Krishna Kumar Goud, Co-Convener of Legal Cell in the Congress Party, is clearly politically motivated. Except for vague insinuations, there is no specific allegation in the complaint either against the Chief Minister or the Ministers," sources in the Government told Business Line. "We have been legally advised that the order can be challenged in the High Court. Steps will be taken in this regard," they said.
