Poultry Venkateshwara Hatcheries to cut chick supply Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 15 VENKATESHWARA Hatcheries (VH) group has decided to reduce the supply of day-old chicks to restore the balance between demand and supply and ensure remunerative prices to farmers. In a press release here on Monday, the VH group Chairperson, Ms Anuradha J. Desai, stated that instructions were issued to all group hatcheries to cull the broiler parents aged 60 weeks and above immediately. She said the broiler industry had just started recovering and over production of day-old chicks at this stage would derail the recovery process. Ms Desai said that some breeders had expanded their production capacities in the recent past and the surplus production was creating an undue pressure on broiler prices. She wanted this trend to be curtailed.
