Security `British Aerospace jet deal this fiscal' Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 16 THE Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal S. Krishnaswamy, has said the agreement for buying advanced jet trainers (AJTs) from British Aerospace would be signed this financial year. The Air Chief Marshal made this observation when his attention was drawn to some media reports, which alleged that the British company had bribed its way to clinch some deals. Addressing presspersons at an impromptu press conference here, he said IAF's reliance on the Russian technology was no bane. Asked whether the country's dependence on Russia was a handicap, he said it was not true. On flexi air corridors, he said the Civil and Air Force should co-ordinate with each other so as to share resources, including air space. "It will help shorten journey time and reduce fuel spend," he said. Stating that Pakistan is a small country, he said it was no challenge for India. Air Chief Marshal Krishnaswamy was in the city to deliver the keynote address at the two-day seminar-cum-exhibition on `Aerospace technology challenges in the millennium'.
