AP Minister urges Tax Dept to enhance collections

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 16

THE Minister for Commercial Taxes, Mr K. Vijayarama Rao, today asked the Deputy Commissioners to gear up the Department to increase monthly collections to Rs 900 crore from Rs 730 crore now.

"This can be achieved as the industrial production is looking up in the State. It is necessary for all the divisions to improve performance," the Minister said while addressing the State-level conference of Deputy Commissioners.

He said the Government has fixed a target of Rs 9,000 crore for the current fiscal.

The Minister asked the officers to identify areas and commodities liable to tax evasion and focus on these areas to plug the gaps.

Officers should cross verify information from different sources at their command to identify evaders.

While directing them not to leave any scope with regard to the collectible taxes, he urged them to co-ordinate with other Government departments in collecting the dues.
