Business De-regulation Bill notification soon

Our Bureau

Mangalore , Dec. 16

THE Business De-regulation Bill, which has been cleared by the President, will be notified as an Act in Karnataka on December 22.

This Act will provide single window clearance for entrepreneurs in the State.

Addressing the final road show on Coastal Investors' Meet in Mangalore on Monday, the Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, Mr R.V. Deshpande, said that this Act would provide enabling environment for the growth of industry. The entrepreneur has to self-certify his unit confirming compliance to the extant laws and rules.

He said both the Houses of the State Legislature have given their consent to the Industrial Township Bill. This Bill is awaiting Presidential consent to become an Act. The industrial townships will provide for management of the industrial infrastructure by private industry associations or users' groups.

The Minister said that the industrial townships were expected to allow the industry to manage their own assets and ensure a high order of maintenance of the infrastructure such as roads, power, water supply, and telecommunication within the industrial estates or industrial parks. Such townships will be established in those areas having clusters of industries.

On the Special Economic Zone Bill, Mr Deshpande said that both the houses of the State Legislature have passed this Bill. Nearly 20 Central Ministries have to clear this Bill, and of them, 12 have already given their consent. He hoped that this Bill would become an Act soon.

Stating that Karnataka is the first State to introduce such Bills, the Minister opined that they would boost confidence among investors.
