Mumbai , Dec. 23

ABOUT 15,000 tonne of groundnut oil, out of the estimated contracted quantity of 35,000 tonnes, have been shipped out by mid-December, according to Mr D.P. Khandelia, President of Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA).

In addition, about 5,000 tonne of refined soyabean oil have been exported to West Asian destinations. India would possibly export 40,000-45,000 tonne of groundnut oil worth Rs 200 crore this season, he added. Export of groundnut oil - the popular cooking medium in the country - is taking place after about 40 years. Thanks to a significant rebound in oilseeds production and firm international prices, exports have been possible.
