Industry & Economy - Non-conventional Energy

Solar energy park planned at Madurai

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) plans to set up a solar energy park here.

A delegation of the Maditssia led by its President, Mr K. Ramachandran, along with the Madurai MP, Mr P. Mohan, met the Union Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy, Mr M. Kannappan, at New Delhi recently and submitted a project proposal on the park. Mr Ramachandran said the Minister reacted positively to the proposal.

In a statement here, Mr Ramachandran said that the expenditure for the usage of fuel and electricity by the industries increased day by day. Such expenditure can be minimised by switching over to the concept of applying non-conventional energy. In this respect, Maditssia has planned to establish a solar energy park at Madurai to cater to the need of the industrialists and to create awareness for entrepreneurs, students and the public on the benefits of solar energy.
