New facilities at Global Hospitals

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 23

GLOBAL Hospitals, a multi-speciality corporate hospital, has added two new facilities - a Flat Panel Cath Lab and an Electrophysiology Laboratory (EP Lab) - to offer improved heart care.

The hospital has invested Rs 3.5 crore for the new facilities procured from Siemens and Bard Pro EP Systems respectively. They are already installed and functional, Dr K. Ravindranath, Managing Director of the Hospital, told newspersons.

The Cath Lab facilitates diagnosis and treatment of serious heart ailments. It is completely digital, exposes both patient and lab personnel to less radiation, reduces investigation time and aids in early diagnosis, said Dr Shailendra Singh, Head of the Cardiology Department.

Small blocks in arteries can be better detected and angiogram and angioplasty for tackling blocks can be better performed.

The hospital has decided to undertake angiogram for Rs 3,000 against the usual Rs 7,000 and Rs 65,000 for a coronary bypass surgery against Rs 93,000 every Friday, Dr Ravindranath said.

The EP Lab helps in treatment of patients with very slow or very fast or irregular heartbeat. Using less invasive methods, certain heart ailments can be better treated.
