The Hindu Business Line : KVIB cell to aid youth

HYDERABAD: The Khadi and Village Industries Board, Andhra Pradesh is planning to establish a consultancy service cell to enable trained youth to set up their own units, according to its Chairman, Mr L. Ramana.

The KVIB board, which met here on Monday, also decided to sanction Rs 96.22 lakh under different schemes to provide employment to 268 youth in 21 districts. In all 547 beneficiaries were covered with an overall investment of Rs 23.12 crore for various industrial activities, which in turn generated employment to 4,759 persons during 2002-03.

The KVIB, through the Khadi Gramodyog Maha Vidyalaya, has trained nearly 4,000 unemployed youth under TRYSEM, EDP and other programmes during the past two years. The Consultancy Cell would focus on enabling these trained youth in rural areas to take to entrepreneurship, according to the Chairman.
