Downtrend continues in rubber

RUBBER prices continued to fall. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed at Rs 53.50 per kg consecutively for the third day on Wednesday. At the Bangkok market, RSS 3 weakened to Rs 57.50 from Rs 57.67 a kg on Tuesday. The TOCOM January futures for the same grade improved to 139.9 yen from 138.2 yen as on Monday.

The futures market also moved into a holiday spree quoting the near month January delivery at Rs 55.50 (55.50), February delivery at Rs 57.80 (57.76), March delivery at Rs 59.85 (60.02), April delivery at Rs 61.94 (62.00), May delivery at Rs 63.30 (63.27) and June delivery at Rs 64.30 (64.29) per kg for RSS 4.

The physical market rates per kg on Wednesday were as follows: RSS 4 53.50 (53.50); RSS 5 51 (51); ungraded 49 (49); ISNR 20 51.75 (51.75); and latex 60 per cent 39.50 (39.50).
