Human Resources Emigration rules relaxed Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Job seekers flying out of the country would not be required to pay upfront the return fare in a new decision being implemented from December 25 by the Emigration Section under the Union Ministry of Labour. Announcing this, an official spokesman said December 25 was also the date on which Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojna would come into force. The amended rules now require that those applying for emigration clearance should buy a policy under the new scheme. The insurer will be responsible for meeting expenses for ferrying in the insured back home in case where the latter fails to either locate a sponsor or land the specified job, or lose the job due to illness or infirmity. The rules also require that the foreign-bound give an affidavit, duly endorsed by a Notary, to the effect that he would not shift loyalty to any other employer other than the one mentioned in his visa document. According to the spokesman, the new rules have been implemented as a follow-up to the talks held by a Cabinet committee, headed by the Minister for Non-Keralite Affairs, Mr M.M. Hassan, with the Union Labour Minister in New Delhi.
