Health consultants to keep employees in fine fettle now

New Delhi , Dec. 25

FIRST it was the management consultants and now it's health consultants who are increasingly being sought out by companies, in an effort to improve employee health, besides the company's balance sheet, thanks to enhanced productivity!

Corporates, particularly those in service-oriented segments such as hospitality and advertising for instance, are calling health professionals to address their employees who keep erratic hours and don't have the time to take care of their health, says Mr Saurabh Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director, Health Total - the health consultant company known by its popular ambassador and promoter Dr Anjali Mukherjee.

Health Total's top-brass feel that they are not overstating the priority that health is taking on the corporate agenda.

"About 12 of the 15 companies we have approached have called for our professionals to address their employees. With the economic boom, things are only going to get worse, as people are going to work harder and longer. Urban life is only going to deteriorate further," Mr Mukherjee told Business Line.

And since corporates "don't have the time" to take care of their health, a team of five people from Health Total including a nutritionist etc. meet the employees in their office premises and give them inputs on how they can keep healthy despite their work schedules, he adds.

Dr Mukherjee points out that Health Total has been successfully treating "nutritionally convertible disorders" through non-drug therapy for close to two decades.

"Human beings are programmed for disease and through a better lifestyle, one can delay if not completely put-off a disease. We are oft associated with obesity-related problems and weight loss. But we are able to correct about 70 to 90 per cent of health-related problems, depending on which stage they come forward for correctional therapies."

Strategic investor welcome

HEALTH Total is "very actively" looking for a strategic investor, Mr Mukherjee told Business Line. A known name in Mumbai, the health consultant company is looking to establish its presence in the Capital now. Unwilling to give more details, he pointed out that the company would look to get on board an investor who would bring both finance and additional expertise.

Health Total also has a snack foods division that sells its nutritional food products such as soya biscuits, soya nuts, millet biscuits etc. across the country. The company is also looking to step up its exports to markets like Canada and West Asia.
