Petroleum Plea to withdraw import ban on white kerosene Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Dec. 28 THE Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, has said the Commerce Ministry's recent curb on direct import of white kerosene by private sector has hit the manufacturers, especially those in the SSI who had been hitherto using the imported kerosene for captive power generation. The ban on imports has led to spiralling price of kerosene in open market. These industries are now forced to shift from kerosene to either LPG or high-speed diesel, which has resulted in their captive power cost going up, the Chamber President, Mr A. Sakthivel, has said. In a statement, he said considering the difficulties faced by the industry, the Ministry of Petroleum should reconsider its decision and withdraw the last month's notification banning the direct import.
