Kochi , Dec. 29

COCHIN International Airport Ltd (CIAL), the first in the private sector in the country, at nearby Nedumbassery, which has made a net profit of Rs 11 crore as on September 30 last is to declare dividends from next fiscal.

The Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, presiding over the annual general meeting of the company here on Monday said that since CIAL had come out of the red and started making profits, it would declare dividends from next year.

The company was able to achieve 37 per cent revenue growth this year over the previous year. The operations have improved substantially, he said. CIAL is working on a master plan on the long-term strategies to be adopted considering the various scenarios to make the airport internationally competitive.

This will also bring more revenue to the airport from the non-aeronautical side, he said. He said that the airport was also expected to be benefited fully by the Union Government's open sky policy with the ASEAN countries.

CIAL is making every effort to attract more carriers, thereby increasing the global connectivity of Kochi, he added.
