Hyderabad , Dec. 29

IF the plans of Andhra Pradesh Government and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are any indication, the day is not far off when a villager in any part of the State can access various Government services by using APOnline network of over 6000 kiosks.

APOnline Ltd., a joint venture of TCS and AP Government, on Monday announced the launch of eSeva APOnline, where additional 15 services have been incorporated. This is a fully computerised service that allows one to pay utility bills, file applications for nativity, caste certificates, and register complaints for various Government services and also access information. The project is aimed at making a citizen's life better.

The Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, who commissioned the services, directed that all the schools under the 1000-schools project of computerisation be covered so that they can also use the infrastructure for extending citizen services. Alongside this, the Chief Minister also agreed to cover STD PCO in this ambitious project.

The Chairman of APOnline and Chief Financial Officer of TCS, Mr S. Mahalingam, said eSeva OnLine is a public private participation (PPP) initiative spread across Andhra Pradesh, offering multiple services at convenient locations. Being Web-based, it facilitates scalability in minimum time combined with low cost of infrastructure. This is a significant step towards TCS e-governance initiative to make life comfortable.

The eSseva Portal brings various departments/services under one platform. With the proposed rural service delivery points, about 6,000 are planned, an individual would be able to access information and seek services from different service providers such as banks, cyber cafes and retail outlets which will serve as delivery centres. ICICI would serve as a payment gateway for the portal.
