Diesel subsidy for fishermen in Karnataka

MANGALORE: The Minister of State for Ports and Fisheries, Mr Vasanth V. Salian, has said that Rs 8.27 crore has been spent in coastal Karnataka to check sea erosion.

Participating in a function to lay foundation stone for a bridge at Bagwady in Udupi district on Monday, he stated that the Department of Fisheries has allotted 5,000 houses to fishermen in the State.

Stating that the State Government has been providing Rs 17 crore subsidy for diesel used by fishermen, he promised that the subsidy would continue in the next financial year also.

Mr Oscar Fernandes, MP, stated that the Government is giving priority for infrastructure development in the State, and Karnataka is one among toppers in terms of development.
