BSNL signs pact with ONGC

BHARAT Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Tuesday said it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ONGC to provide full gamut of telecom services, including basic telephony, mobile services, wide area network (WAN) and Internet to the oil company.

BSNL will meet all the telecom requirement of ONGC from their network on mutually agreed terms, the company said in a statement here.

"BSNL shall also provide technical know-how in designing the telecom network as and when required by ONGC, " the statement said. The estimated value of the contract was not disclosed.

ONGC is currently using mobile services from different service providers. These services will now be provided by BSNL through its CellOne. BSNL will also design a WAN using optical fibre connectivity across the country, enabling ONGC to implement intranet and in-house applications.

The Internet bandwidth will also be provided by BSNL and different net applications of ONGC will be hosted on BSNL servers.The contract between the two companies was for two years and was extendable by one year as per the future requirement of ONGC, the statement said.
