Over 800 delegates to attend Nasscom summit in Feb

LEADING international think tanks and top officials of Fortune 1000 companies will attend the 12th annual summit of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom), to be held in Mumbai from February 3-6.

The `Nasscom 2004: India Leadership Forum' will focus its attention on the global economic landscape, the challenges of managing a global company, security issues facing the IT industry and the opportunities that emerge for the Indian IT industry with the changing demographic profile of various countries, including the US and the UK, the association said in a statement here on Tuesday.

"The event will attract some of the best-known speakers from the industry and prominent figures from business, government and media to chart out the strategy for building the Indian domestic ICT market," said Mr Kiran Karnik, President of Nasscom.

Over 60 speakers will address more than 20 sessions during the three-day conference. Among the speakers at the event are Mr Dan Griswold, Cato Institute, a research foundation in Washington D.C; Mr Dave McCurdy, Electronics Industry alliance, a US trade organisation that represents more than 80 per cent of the $430-billion electronics Industry; Mr Elliot Schwartz, Committee for Economic Development; Mr James Carafano, Heritage Foundation, a research and educational institute; Mr John Reed of the New York Stock Exchange; Mr Alistar Cox of Xansa; and Ms Diana Farrell of McKinsey Global Institute.

In addition to this, representatives from countries such as Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany will attend the Nasscom 2004, to provide Indian IT companies an opportunity to explore business opportunities, Nasscom said, adding that about 800 delegates from India and abroad were expected to participate in the event.
